Childbirth Preparation Classes

Join local doulas, Anna Page and Abby Cape, for Birth Foundations: a comprehensive, in-person prenatal education class designed to help you feel more confident, informed, and empowered as you prepare to meet your baby. This workshop is 4 hours of personalized education. Alongside other pregnant families in these small classes, you can experience the support and preparation that doulas provide prenatally.

What's included in Birth Foundations?

Birth Planning, Values, and Mindset

We'll walk through the essentials of a birth plan that aligns with your values and is flexible for the unpredictability of labor. We'll also explore your priorities, teach you how to navigate decision-making during labor, and determine what truly matters to your experience.

Hands-On Prep and Practice

You and your support person will get hands-on practice with labor positions, comfort techniques, and breathing strategies. We'll also cover the many pain management techniques you can utilize throughout your labor.

Skills You Can Use

You won't just get handouts and a vague idea of things you can do. We'll practice breathing and pushing techniques that you can use during labor to get you through each contraction, whether you're planning a natural or medicated birth.

Take Home Items

From this workshop, you'll get:

  • a postpartum care package

  • reference sheets to take with you

  • a complete birth plan

  • new connections with other birthing families

  • access to local pregnancy, birth, and postpartum resources

Who is this class for?

Whether you have prior birthing experience or you're a first-time parent, this class will help you build a foundation for a more informed and supported birth experience. We'll gather in the cozy space at Vera Chiropractic, a local Columbia business dedicated to supporting pregnant individuals and children.

This workshop is open to birthing people in their 2nd or 3rd trimester and their support partners.
